We are Emma Ainsley, artist and John Phillips, musician. We are both professional, trained practitioners. We have been collaborating since 2013. John is a jazz musician and composer, Emma works in video, performance, sound and installation - improvising and jamming is right at the heart of our practice together. Alongside the development of our creative practices, we have both worked in front line roles in care environments for over twenty years. Using this unique skill mix, we deliver co-creative projects alongside people living with dementia and with Jam Today we deliver fun, engaging jamming sessions in care homes.
In 2020 we'll be delivering a year long co-creative project working alongside service users and staff in four care homes in Scotland to make work together for an exhibition in early 2021 - two of the homes are specialist dementia units. We'll be delivering a community-based project in Fife, where we'll be setting-up an open studio for one afternoon a week during the spring and summer, inviting people living with dementia in the local community, their friends, familiy and supporters, to join us in the art/music studio for some co-creative experimentation and play. We'll also be launching our new care home jamming kits in the summer.
