LET’S GET JAMMING
Welcome to our new Jam Today blog. It will be posted every second Monday and we will be keeping you up to date on our exciting care home Jam Sessions and development of our Jamming Kits to be launched in the Spring.
We have come a long way since last year thanks to the care homes who embraced our new jamming approach to working creatively alongside people living with dementia. And, of course, without our fellow jammers we wouldn’t be on this path to bringing something completely different and engaging to every care home.
Going into our first sessions we weren’t sure what was going to happen and how people were going to react to our idea of jamming together. We were immediately delighted how everyone got it and stepped up to play as a band. Participants just seem to understand that if they don’t join in, it won’t work – at every session we’ve had a great response to this little bit of pressure to perform and we’ve all made some great music together. People really feel and express a sense of achievement in making each session a success.
We love the positive impact that this jamming approach is having – with service users and staff having a fun, creative social time together – and we’re keen to get more jamming happening in care homes. If you’re interested in the jamming approach we’d love to hear your thoughts.
