Jam Today

Bringing joy and a sense of achievement through shared creativity

Whole Afternoon Zoom Jams Project

We are an artist and a musician offering therapeutic participatory music sessions delivered into the care home. The sessions are all about getting creative together – with singing, percussion and dancing – and having fun together with an in-the-moment jamming experience. For our Zoom sessions, we use colourful, engaging video backgrounds to enhance the multi-sensory space.

We're looking for four care home partners to work with us on an exciting new project to deliver participatory group sessions over Zoom. We want to deliver four full afternoon sessions with each home, developing the sessions and material we use in response to our care home partners feedback. We'll offer partners technical support and advice to maximize the benefits of the sessions using their existing audio-visual equipment. The total cost for each home to participate in the project will be £200.

Having a full afternoon session gives the opportunity to work with people in different spaces and settings in the home and we will agree with each home how they want to use the sessions - this could include small and larger group sessions, individual sessions and staff training for example.

If you'd like to find out more, let's make a time to have a chat or a Zoom about working together.

The Benefits of Having a Jam

  • Realising the individual's creative potential by enabling them to use and discover new skills. Everyone involved in the jam, including staff, will get opportunities to share skills and learn new skills.

  • Enhancing community and social connection through shared creative expression. Jamming together offers new creative ways to connect and communicate.

  • Holistic stimulation - physically, mentally, socially and creatively. This offers a range of options for engaging in the session.

  • Jamming together gives a real sense of achievement.

  • Inclusive and accessible to all - there's a way for everyone to join in and it works well for mixed ability groups.

  • Improved feelings of self-confidence. Being an important and respected actor with something valuable and valued to bring to the session.

  • Enables everyone to contribute and to be able to give and not just receive - empowering individuals to be active participants.

  • Improved feelings of well-being ... because it's so much fun to make music and get creative together.
